Astrantia ‘claret’ from marshalls garden bears some of the darkest red astrantias, with ruby-red pincushion flowers on long red-black stems above deeply lobed, maroon-tinged young leaves. It grows to about 100 cm and thrives in sun or part shade in moist, well-drained soil. Pollinator-friendly and excellent for borders, containers and cutting.
